On November 5, 2011, Mass Attack Roller Derby successfully completed its first bouting season, exactly one year after being founded. The championship bout was an intense game between home-team rivals Mass Murdah, led by captain and seasoned skater, Sis Boom Bonnie, and The Bleeding Hearts, fronted by captain and MARD co-founder, Jam Dizzle.

Rookie jammers, Dorkus Maximus, Yer Werst NME, and Dutchie Conqueror demonstrated a year’s worth of solid agility and footwork training, as they darted and sprung through the strong defensive walls of the Bleeding Hearts, to help lead Mass Murdah to an impressive 159-63 victory.

In addition to being a team of skilled jammers, Murdah also displayed its aggressive side with heavy hitting rookie blockers, Ultra Violet Assassin, putting the smack down on Hearts jammers and T. Hooligan, busting holes in the barricades created by some of the Hearts toughest athletes, including derby new-comers, Della Kinetic and Swizzle Stix.

Though defeated in this bout, the fearless Hearts skaters, including MARD’s newest 2011 skaters, Bootiful Banshee and Candy Savage, didn’t make this an easy win for Murdah.  Banshee’s killer booty blocks created a major disturbance for Murdah jammers, while Candy’s jammer stride kept Murdah skaters on their toes.

“This is my proudest derby moment,” said Murdah captain, Sis Boom Bonnie.  “The versatility and perseverance of my teammates continues to impress and inspire me.  Bring it 2012!”
